Brazil's Senate approved a constitutional amendment on October 14 that ends the six-days-on, one-day-off work schedule and cuts the maximum workweek from 44 hours to 40 with no cut in pay, phased in gradually; because the Senate left the lower house's text unchanged, it goes straight to promulgation.
