Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter but built only 464,391, about 22,000 fewer than it delivered, after a second quarter in which, by Morgan Stanley's count, deliveries exceeded production by roughly 28,000; so for two quarters running it has been selling cars it had already made; the Model 3 and Model Y were 98% of deliveries, and earnings come on October 21.
