Tommy: space start-ups raised twenty point eight billion. Dougie: I'll buy my own stuff, genius. Scarf: mostly rockets. Townsman: fund more rockets! Abe: satellites got four billion, rockets sixteen point four; two hundred sixteen deals, up from one forty! Tommy: rockets first, satellites after. Dougie: fine, satellite, pay me.
Of the record $20.8 billion that went into space start-ups last quarter, $16.4 billion went to launch and space-access companies across 120 deals, while satellite communications, Earth observation and other space-service companies raised $4 billion; the number of deals rose to a record 216 from 140 in the second quarter, so the money is going into rockets first and the services that ride on them second.
