Oct 16, 2026 · 0:35

The city of Ledgerville, where first jobs shrink as AI grows. Mayor Pennywhistle: the robots took the interns' desks! Dash: same report, AI firms leased two point two million square feet. Pop: more than double all of last year! Zap: fewer first jobs, more office space. Dash: the group says keep the entry doors open.

The report behind the post also counts the other side of the ledger: AI companies leased more than 2.2 million square feet of New York office space in the first half of 2026, more than double their total for all of 2025, with 13 existing firms adding 1.2 million square feet between them, even as entry-level postings in the most exposed fields fell; the group warns that fewer first jobs could make the city less accessible to young talent and says keeping entry points open must be central to the city's AI strategy.
