Inspector Hale: Alberta votes Monday, ten colour-coded ballots per voter. Wren: ten? I heard one question. The Ledger: ballot one only starts a legal process; yes means a second referendum. Five more on immigration, four on how Alberta is run. Nightjar: ten ballots, no exit yet. Wren: and you can hand any back.
Monday's Alberta vote is ten ballots, not one: besides the separation question, which asks only whether to start the legal process toward a binding referendum, with a second referendum needed before any independence, voters get five yes-or-no questions on immigration and four on how Alberta is run, including choosing its own judges, abolishing the Senate, opting out of federal programmes and putting provincial law first, and they may hand back any ballot they do not want to answer.
