Tommy: 75% of six-figure earners charged something in the past three months because they ran out of cash, against 59% of all Americans (the same August 2025 poll). Dougie: rich people's problem, lend me twenty. Town hall: I pretend my Venmo's broken, who doesn't?! (48% of $200k+ earners admitted it.) Abe: Mayor, is that budgeting? Mayor Dithers: fiscally, yes. Tommy learned something today: high earners lean on cards more than everyone, 41% versus 33%. Dougie: my Venmo's broken too.
In the same Harris Poll, six-figure earners were more likely than Americans overall to lean on credit when cash ran short: 75% had used a credit card in the past three months because they ran out of cash, against 59% of all Americans, and 41% say they rely on cards to make ends meet, against 33%; among those earning $200,000 or more, 48% admitted pretending a payment app was not working to dodge a bill.
