Quest: Point Three Percent

Oct 14, 2026 · 0:31

Juno: a study says robots can do three quarters of physical tasks! Mochi: read on, they beat a human's cost for 0.3%. Queen Honeycomb: robot prices fall about 3% a year; at that pace, 10% of work takes forty years. Tock: the number is 0.3%. Juno: robots can do it, nobody can afford them.

By an Anthropic study, robots can already do about three-quarters of physical job tasks in the US, but they are cheaper than a human for only 0.3% of work, and at the roughly 3% a year that robot prices have fallen since the 1990s it would take about 40 years for that to reach 10%.

unusual_whales post: Robots can already do about 3/4 of physical job tasks in the US, per Anthropic. But they're cheaper than a human for just 0.3% of them. At the historical rate robots get cheaper, it would take about 40 years for that to reach 10%.
